Job summary

RISD's Fleet Library is seeking a Senior Library Assistant, Circulation & Serials to support the serials collection and Circulation/Reserve Desk operations in Providence. The role involves assisting library users, supervising student staff, and helping with opening and closing routines.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years in customer service, with experience in library systems (preferably Sierra) and serials management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; 2+ years in customer service, preferably in a library setting.
• Experience with library management systems, preferably Sierra, and with serials management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the library serials collection and monitor the serials budget.
• Communicate with vendors; order/receive subscriptions; update records and process gifts.
• Monitor Circulation/Reserve Desk operations and assist library users with inquiries.
• Open/close the library as scheduled and supervise student employees.
• Assist with training and supervision of staff; ensure policy adherence.
