Qualifications

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Degrees in Library Science, Information Technology, Education, Business, or related fields preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in library circulation, public services, academic support, or customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide circulation services at desk, sign-in, loans, reserves, fines, and study room check-ins.
  • Maintain library shelving, inventory, and accessibility of materials.
  • Train and support part-time staff, manage overdue notices, and assist with interlibrary loan when needed.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming environment and coordinate with Campus Safety as required.

Job Profile Summary

Under general supervision, this position provides comprehensive library circulation services while supporting the daily operations of the Innovation Hub. The incumbent assists students, faculty, staff, with access to library resources, circulation services, and basic makerspace technologies. The position exercises independent judgment in administering circulation functions in accordance with established library policies and college procedures and may serve as lead staff member during assigned shifts. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability. Position may require a second shift: Monday–Thursday, 1:00 PM–9:00 PM; Saturday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM Applicants claiming preference are responsible for providing required documentation at the time of submitting application. Minimum Education
  • Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution required.
  • Degrees in Library Science, Information Technology, Education, Business, or related fields are preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum Experience/Training
  • Three (3) years of experience in library circulation, public services, academic support, or customer service.
  • Experience with library management systems and technology support preferred.
  • Experience with makerspaces or educational technologies is desirable.
Essential Functions
Library Circulation Services (75%)
  • Daily – 30% Provide circulation services by working the circulation services desk, patron sign-in, checking materials in and out, processing reserves, fines, and fees, check-in/out study rooms, answering patron inquiries, providing directional assistance, monitoring library security, and performing opening and closing procedures.
  • Daily – 20% Maintain library collections through shelving, shelf-reading, locating missing materials, inventory control, processing damaged items, and ensuring collections remain organized and accessible.
  • Daily – 15% Train and support part-time staff, process overdue and lost notices, maintain circulation statistics, and provide basic reference and interlibrary loan assistance when designee is unavailable.
  • Daily – 10% Maintain a safe and welcoming environment by addressing patron concerns, coordinating with Campus Safety when necessary, and assisting during emergency procedures.
Innovation Hub Services (25%)
  • Daily – 20% Support Innovation Hub operations by assisting users with makerspace technologies, providing basic instruction on equipment such as 3D printers, multimedia tools, maintaining supply levels, and performing routine troubleshooting.
  • Daily – 5% Assist with workshops, student innovation projects, entrepreneurship activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of library circulation procedures, integrated library systems, and customer service practices.
  • Library of Congress Classification system.
  • Working knowledge of makerspace technologies and common educational software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic technology and equipment issues.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to train student employees, prioritize multiple responsibilities, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively with student and employee populations.
