WSP USA seeks a senior-level Site Civil Engineer to support electrical utility and renewable energy projects. The role involves grading, drainage, and site design for solar, wind, and battery storage facilities, with a hybrid/remote work option.

Based in Cincinnati or other listed offices, you will prepare engineering deliverables, perform comprehensive modeling, and mentor junior staff while ensuring project scope, budget, and quality targets are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of post-education civil/site design experience.
• Engineer license (multi-state preferred).
• Experience in site design for utilities, industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, drainage and stormwater design, grading, roadway, and sewer design.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation experience.
• 10+ years of civil site/design experience.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

The Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a senior-level Site Civil Engineer to join our team supporting the electrical utility and renewable energy service areas. Our department specializes in high-performing projects with a focus on the future. Our goal is to deliver excellent projects together with a positive experience for our clients and our communities alike.

This position will be based in our Cincinnati, OH, Exton, PA or Billings, MT offices with the ability to work in a hybrid setting, a combination of home and office, or remotely.

Your Impact

You’ll be asked to support grading and drainage/stormwater management design for new and existing electrical utility sites, and renewable energy sites (solar, wind, battery storage), as well as access road design, permitting, and construction support.

Prepare and review engineering deliverables in support of civil/site engineering projects:

• AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
• Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
• Stormwater management calculations, design, and modeling using HydroCAD
• Floodplain modeling and analysis using HECRAS or Flo-2D
• Site layout, grading, drainage designs, and construction drawings
• Bill of materials
• Construction specifications
• Perform detailed engineering reviews of the work submitted by others.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to others
• Coordinate regularly with the Project Engineer/Manager to ensure project scope, budget, and quality expectations are met

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and civil design.
• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Experience in site design for utilities, industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, storm drainage and stormwater management design, site grading, roadway, and utility design, sanitary sewer design and analysis, construction specification development and development of construction bid packages.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation experience
• Ten (10) + years of experience in civil site/design as outlined above
• The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
• Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

Desired Education/Experience

• Stormwater management and hydraulic modeling software (Autodesk SSA, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, etc.) experience in drainage, detention and stormwater conveyance
• Electric utility substation design experience
• Managerial and leadership skills a plus
