Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a senior-level Site Civil Engineer to join our team supporting electrical utility and renewable energy service areas. Based in Billings, MT with hybrid or remote options, you will contribute to grading, drainage, and site design for utility and renewable projects.

You'll prepare engineering deliverables using AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation, perform hydrologic analyses, and coordinate with project teams to ensure scope, budget, and quality objectives are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field; licensure preferred.
• 10+ years post-education experience in civil/site design for utilities/renewables.
• Licensed engineer (multi-state preferred).
• Experience in site design for utilities, industrial facilities and municipal infrastructure.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Support grading and drainage/stormwater design for electrical utility sites and renewable energy sites.
• Prepare and review civil/site engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate with Project Engineer/Manager to meet scope, budget and quality targets.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance.
• Contribute to construction drawings, specifications, and BOMs.

The Opportunity

WSP is currently seeking a senior-level Site Civil Engineer to join our team supporting the electrical utility and renewable energy service areas. Our department specializes in high-performing projects with a focus on the future. Our goal is to deliver excellent projects together with a positive experience for our clients and our communities alike.

This position will be based in our Cincinnati, OH, Exton, PA or Billings, MT offices with the ability to work in a hybrid setting, a combination of home and office, or remotely.

Your Impact

You'll be asked to support grading and drainage/stormwater management design for new and existing electrical utility sites, and renewable energy sites (solar, wind, battery storage), as well as access road design, permitting, and construction support.

Prepare and review engineering deliverables in support of civil/site engineering projects:

• AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation


• Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling


• Stormwater management calculations, design, and modeling using HydroCAD


• Floodplain modeling and analysis using HECRAS or Flo-2D


• Site layout, grading, drainage designs, and construction drawings


• Bill of materials


• Construction specifications


• Perform detailed engineering reviews of the work submitted by others.


• Provide mentorship and guidance to others


• Coordinate regularly with the Project Engineer/Manager to ensure project scope, budget, and quality expectations are met

Who You are

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).


• 10+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and civil design.


• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).


• Experience in site design for utilities, industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, storm drainage and stormwater management design, site grading, roadway, and utility design, sanitary sewer design and analysis, construction specification development and development of construction bid packages.


• AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation experience


• Ten (10) + years of experience in civil site/design as outlined above


• The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel


• Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

Desired Education/Experience

• Stormwater management and hydraulic modeling software (Autodesk SSA, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, etc.) experience in drainage, detention and stormwater conveyance


• Electric utility substation design experience


• Managerial and leadership skills a plus
