Job summary

Escape Velocity, a fully remote game studio, seeks a Senior Level Designer to own the design and construction of engaging game spaces that support core mechanics, combat and movement. You will collaborate with cross-discipline teams, create maps from concept to blockout, and iterate based on playtests while mentoring junior designers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Level Design experience.
• Experience with UE5 and/or Unity.
• Excellent communication and mentorship abilities.
• A portfolio of high-quality shipped/playable Level Design work.
• Drawing/ Photoshop skills are a plus.
• Scripting knowledge and 3D construction beyond blockout are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to plan and create level content.
• Present and pitch ideas to internal and external teams.
• Design and develop maps, arenas, objectives and combat spaces from concept to final blockout.
• Blockouts must clearly communicate flow, scale, player positioning, sightlines, cover and traversal.
• Iterate rapidly based on playtest data and team feedback.
• Playtest in-progress work and provide feedback to the team.
• Collaborate with Mechanics and AI Designers and Engineers to create unique gameplay mechanics and improve tools.
• Work with Environment Artists to transition gameplay blockouts into polished environments without compromising intended gameplay integrity.
