Job summary

ByteDance is seeking a Senior Security Systems Engineer to embed within the Security Technology team. This role focuses on server infrastructure and architecture for enterprise security systems, with emphasis on Lenel OnGuard and Avigilon CCTV environments.

Hybrid work with four days onsite in San Jose and one day remote. Responsibilities include upgrades, patching, health checks, and cross-functional collaboration with IT and vendors to ensure secure, scalable operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience engineering and supporting enterprise physical security systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Lenel OnGuard and Avigilon CCTV systems.
• Experience administering enterprise servers, OS updates, security patches, backups, and performance monitoring.
• Experience with SQL databases: backups, queries, and performance management.
• Strong understanding of enterprise system architecture, networking, and security concepts.
• Experience coordinating with internal teams and external vendors for deployments.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize server infrastructure for enterprise physical security systems.
• Manage upgrades, OS updates, patches, backups, and preventative maintenance per standards.
• Monitor health, performance, availability, and capacity of security systems; resolve issues.
• Troubleshoot complex server, database, and integration problems; perform root cause analysis.
• Design and document security system architecture across servers, apps, databases, networks.
• Maintain SQL databases, including health, backups, and data integrity.
• Coordinate with R&D, IT, network, and vendors to support integrations and enhancements.
• Conduct system health checks and testing before/after upgrades or major changes.
• Serve as technical contact for vendors; manage escalations and system improvements.
• Maintain accurate documentation and system diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
