Job summary

Earthjustice is hiring a Senior Legislative Representative to shape and implement lobbying and policy strategies on chemical pollution and toxics issues. The role interfaces with Congress, the Administration, and key agencies from Earthjustice's Washington, D.C. area office, with a hybrid schedule.

The candidate will develop materials, educate lawmakers, and speak on assigned issues while coordinating with litigators and communications staff to advance advocacy and public education goals.

Qualifications

• 6+ years experience in the legislative or federal agency advocacy process.
• Masters degree or equivalent experience. Candidates with JD will receive the title Sr. Legislative Counsel.
• Substantial knowledge and experience with administrative rulemaking process.
• Substantial knowledge with legislative process at the federal level.
• Experience with U.S. environmental and/or energy laws a plus.
• Proven ability to develop and implement successful legislative and administrative strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement legislative and administrative advocacy strategies relating to assigned issues.
• Directly lobby Congress and the Administration.
• Educate the Administration and Congress on key legal challenges and rulings.
• Serve as spokesperson for Earthjustice on assigned issues and track legislation.
• Develop lobby and education materials, including fact sheets, letters, action alerts and blogs.
• Plan and implement initiatives to educate the public and foster advocacy for assigned issues.
• Maintain relationships with staff of key decision makers.
