Job summary

San Bernardino County is seeking a Senior Legal Support Assistant to perform advanced legal clerical duties, prepare and process a wide range of legal documents, and support attorneys in a fast-paced public sector environment.

The role includes potential assignments across Child Support Services, County Counsel, District Attorney, and Public Defender’s Office, with a background check and travel as required. Substitution options for formal education may apply.

Qualifications

• Option 1: One year of full-time clerical support with information for law enforcement, attorneys, and court staff; legal office experience is acceptable.
• Option 2: One year of full-time clerical experience supporting attorneys or caseworkers in Child Support or similar legal/public offices.
• Option 3: One year of clerical experience as a Child Support Assistant in a county agency overseen by a State Child Support Services Department.
• Substitution: completing a Legal Administrative Assistant/Legal Secretary/Paralegal program may substitute for six months of experience.

• Perform advanced legal clerical duties: prepare, review, and process a wide range of legal documents and records.
• Enter important client information into attorney case management systems or Child Support Enforcement System.
