Job summary

State of Ohio – Ohio Department of Medicaid is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join the Contracts & Acquisitions unit. You will negotiate terms with vendors, oversee staff, and provide guidance on procurement rules and regulations.

The position requires active Ohio Bar admission, legal analysis, and the ability to collaborate with a statewide team. Work location is 50 West Town Street, Columbus, OH 43215, with full-time hours and overtime-exempt status.

Qualifications

• Admission to Ohio Bar; 36 months as licensed attorney; 18 months in at least one substantive legal area relevant to employing agency; or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate contract terms with vendors and state/local entities, exercising legal judgment and analytical approach.
• Oversee Contracts and Acquisitions staff.
• Collaborate with ODM staff and elevate topics to Chief Legal Counsel and others.
• Draft and review Controlling Board submissions.
• Provide legal advice on government procurement and contracting processes, rules and regulations.
• Serve as legal liaison to the Ohio Department of Administrative Services.
• Research and draft legal opinions, memoranda and other legal documents.
