Job summary

Gilbane Building Company is seeking an experienced in-house construction attorney to serve as Senior Legal Counsel supporting the Mid-Atlantic Division (DC/Arlington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New Jersey).

You will advise on commercial contracts, claims management, dispute avoidance and resolution, risk management, compliance and training, partnering closely with field operations, project management and leadership.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active State Bar membership.
• Ability to obtain in-house registration or other required authorization.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of agreements: owner/CM, CMAR/CMatRisk, design-build, subcontract, PO, NDAs and master services.
• Lead claims management, dispute avoidance and resolution, and manage litigation/arbitration when needed.
• Provide strategic legal guidance to division leadership to balance risk with business goals.
• Partner with risk, safety, procurement and project teams to improve contract templates and processes.
