Job summary

Gilbane Building Company is seeking an experienced in-house construction attorney to serve as Senior Legal Counsel supporting the Mid-Atlantic Division (Washington, DC/Arlington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New Jersey).

This senior legal role serves as a trusted business partner to divisional and project leadership, providing strategic, practical legal counsel across all phases of the construction lifecycle.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active U.S. Bar membership.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible legal experience, with in-house construction experience preferred.
• Experience counseling senior management and field leaders on complex contract and risk issues.
• Ability to obtain in-house registration or other required authorization in applicable jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of owner/CM agreements, subcontracts, and master service contracts.
• Guide claims management, dispute avoidance, and resolution strategies for projects.
• Provide strategic, practical counsel to division leadership on legal and commercial risk.
• Develop scalable contract templates, playbooks, and compliance protocols.
• Lead training programs on contract compliance and risk management.
