Job summary

Generalist in Somerville, NJ is building its legal function and seeks the first in-house lawyer to own commercial, corporate, privacy, and technology matters. You will work closely with leadership and Applied AI & Partnerships to shape strategy and scale the company’s legal operations.

You should have deep experience with tech agreements, risk assessment, and cross-functional collaboration, plus the ability to navigate evolving AI data regulations.

Qualifications

• JD and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• 6–10+ years of relevant legal experience.
• Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial technology agreements.
• Ability to independently identify issues and drive resolution.
• Broad grounding in corporate and commercial law across evolving tech.
• Excellent communication and practical risk guidance.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial technology agreements.
• Support financings, governance, board and stockholder matters.
• Advise on AI, data, IP, privacy and related issues.
• Provide practical legal advice and risk management across teams.
• Develop scalable templates, policies, and processes; manage external counsel.
• Stay current on AI, robotics, privacy, and regulatory developments.
