Thomson Reuters seeks a Senior Legal Engineer for its Forward Deployed Engineering team. You will design and deploy AI-powered workflows for legal practice, partnering with clients and cross-functional teams to translate real-world needs into practical AI solutions.

The role blends deep legal expertise with AI fluency to enhance efficiency and outcomes. The position is hybrid and requires collaboration with legal teams, engineers, and product partners.

Qualifications

• JD or LLB is required or strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of total professional experience, including at least 2 years in legal practice or in a legal technology product role.
• Fluency in legal terminology and experience working with legal teams.
• Comfort working with AI tools and AI-assisted development environments.
• Strong knowledge of AI and LLM evaluation methodologies.
• Advanced prompt-engineering skills for legal-domain use cases.
• Experience evaluating AI-generated outputs for legal accuracy, relevance, reliability, and safety.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with lawyers and engineers.
• Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and present in client workshops or knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Strong client-facing skills with lawyers, GCs, and legal leadership.
• Collaborative, growth-oriented mindset and commitment to ethical AI, privacy, and confidentiality.

Responsabilités

• Design, prototype, test, and deploy AI-powered solutions for complex legal workflows.
• Lead discovery sessions, pilots, onboarding, and enablement programs with clients.
• Build AI workflow prototypes and automations using Python.
• Evaluate AI/LLM solutions for legal use cases, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
• Develop prompting strategies for legal-domain tasks.
• Create evaluation frameworks and benchmarks for AI outputs.
• Train legal teams on AI tool adoption and best practices.
• Share expertise through documentation and playbooks for customers and internal teams.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, legal, and design to prioritize work.
