Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement, and optimize production processes on the night shift (10:00 pm–6:30 am). You will own the magnet on this shift and work with design, QA, and supply chain teams.

You will apply Lean and Six Sigma to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and ensure product quality. You will lead tooling procurement, develop SOPs, and drive continuous improvement across the facility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality systems.
  • Proficient in CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) and manufacturing ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Make real-time decisions within guardrails and escalate when necessary.
  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to reduce costs and boost efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation including SOPs and flow diagrams.
  • Collaborate with design and development teams to ensure manufacturability.
  • Implement Lean and Six Sigma to enhance production performance.
  • Lead tooling and equipment design/procurement for efficient production.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to optimize methods and labor utilization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practices across the facility.
  • Ensure safety regulations and company policies are followed.
  • Evaluate new technologies and automation solutions.
