Job summary

WC Law Corporation is seeking a Managing Attorney to oversee workers' compensation defense from inception to resolution, manage discovery and litigation, and lead a team of attorneys. The role emphasizes mentorship, client service, collaboration with leadership, and professional development for the group.

The position requires 5+ years of workers' compensation defense experience and a proven track record in supervisory/mentoring roles, with a focus on quality and teamwork across the firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and Juris Doctor degrees.
• Member of the State Bar of California, in good standing.
• Minimum 5+ years of workers' compensation defense experience preferred.
• Prior management, supervisory, or mentoring experience strongly preferred.
• Superior research, analytical, and negotiating ability.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and team management abilities.
• Commitment to proactive case management and client service.
• Experience in Merus or Litify is preferred but not required.
• Experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Teams preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a team of attorneys and legal staff.
• Provide mentorship, training, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities for attorneys.
• Oversee case strategy, litigation management, and legal work product to ensure quality and consistency.
• Manage the legal defense of workers' compensation cases from inception through final resolution.
• Handle all aspects of discovery, depositions, settlement negotiations, hearings, and trial preparation.
• Collaborate with firm leadership on workflow management, staffing, and departmental growth initiatives.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide exceptional client service.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and developing legal talent.
• Promote a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.
• Ensure compliance with firm policies, procedures, and best practices.
