Job summary

Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) is seeking an experienced Head of Learning, Development and Education to lead the LD&E team and deliver its strategic plans across the organisation. This maternity cover role oversees both clinical and non-clinical education provision and ensures governance and CPD standards are met.

• Significant experience in a senior learning, development or education leadership role.
• Strong understanding of clinical education, governance and CPD.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams with a collaborative leadership style.
• Strategic thinking with ability to translate vision into delivery.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Commitment to learning, continuous improvement and service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Continue strategy development and implementation.
• Lead LD&E Team through supervision, annual PDRs and professional development.
• Provide strategic leadership for clinical education to support safe care.
• Provide strategic leadership for non-clinical education and training.
• Model values-based leadership and promote culture, teamwork and communication.
• Promote a culture of continuous learning, reflection and improvement.
• Support development opportunities for all staff.
• Ensure all statutory, mandatory and regulatory training is met.
• Contribute to organisational governance, workforce planning and quality improvement frameworks.
• Manage LD&E budgets in collaboration with department managers.
