Job summary

The Harry Ransom Center at The University of Texas at Austin seeks an Associate Director for Exhibitions & Education to provide strategic leadership for the center’s exhibitions program and related educational activities. Reporting to the Director, you will oversee a portfolio of public programs, readings, lectures, and symposia, and coordinate classroom instruction using rare primary sources.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in literature, theatre, film, photography, or art.
• Seven+ years of experience in library or museum education and exhibitions.
• Experience leading major cross-departmental initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong ability to develop strategic initiatives and collaborate across teams.
• Experience supervising staff and supporting organizational change.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage rotating exhibitions (2–4 per year) and oversee loans to peer libraries and museums.
• Develop readings, lectures, and programs that amplify exhibition themes and engage publics.
• Coordinate with education, visitor services, and instructional staff to provide engaging visitor experiences.
• Oversee fellowships and scholarly programs and manage campus-focused events like the Flair Symposium.
• Collaborate with curators, operations, and communications to promote programs and sponsorships.
