Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to drive design and delivery of scalable Java services within the Deposits 2.0 team.

You will architect cloud-native solutions on AWS, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and data partners to improve user experiences and automate critical workflows. The role emphasizes data pipelines with Databricks/Spark, CI/CD excellence, secure development, and responsible use of AI tools.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
• Advanced Java experience, including building Spring Boot–based services in a microservices architecture.
• Experience with Java (Core & EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud).
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, automated testing, and operational stability for production systems.
• Hands-on experience building cloud-native applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Experience with CI/CD and modern build/version control practices (Git, Maven/Gradle, pipeline automation).
• Proficiency with automated testing approaches and a quality-first mindset.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL, including data modeling and performance considerations.
• Knowledge of messaging and integration patterns, including Kafka.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and responsible use.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and delivery of scalable Java services and APIs.
• Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS with reliability and observability patterns.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product, design, and data partners to define technical strategies.
• Build and optimize data pipelines using Databricks and Apache Spark.
• Drive CI/CD, automated testing, and secure software development practices.
• Promote AI-assisted engineering practices with measurable validation standards.
• Apply SDLC tooling knowledge to improve automation value at scale.
