Job summary
TechPro Power Group is seeking a Senior Lead Relay Technician to guide field calibration and testing of protective relays for substation projects in Raleigh, NC. You will work with electromechanical, microprocessor-based, and digital relays to ensure reliable protection and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities include testing, maintenance, diagnostic analysis, and collaboration with engineers to upgrade protection schemes.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with protective relays in utility-scale transmission or distribution systems.
- Strong understanding of electromechanical and microprocessor-based relays and relay theory.
- Experience with relay test sets and diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70E safety standards and NEC where applicable.
Responsibilities
- Perform acceptance testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protective relays in substations and industrial power systems.
- Conduct functional tests, calibration, and coordination studies to optimize relay settings and system protection.
- Analyze relay event records and fault waveforms to diagnose system issues.
- Maintain accurate test reports, maintenance records, and relay settings for compliance.
