Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking aSenior Lead Full Stack Developer to provide technical leadership for secure, scalable digital solutions in the financial services space. You will guide cloud-native applications using Java, Spring Boot, Azure, and React.js while upholding performance, security, and regulatory requirements.

You will mentor engineers, drive architecture decisions, and partner with product, cybersecurity, risk, and operations teams to deliver reliable, end-to-end systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, IT, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of software engineering with enterprise app delivery.
• Advanced proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, including microservices and security.
• Strong React.js/JavaScript/TypeScript frontend experience with responsive UI.
• Proven Azure cloud architecture, deployment, monitoring, and ops support.
• Relational DBs, SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning; NoSQL knowledge helpful.
• Experience with event-driven design, messaging, caching, API gateways, distributed systems.
• Security-focused coding, auth, encryption, secrets management, and privacy controls.
• Git-based development, CI/CD pipelines, tests, artifact mgmt, production releases.
• Ability to lead tech discussions, mentor engineers, and communicate with stakeholders.
• Azure services (App Service, AKS, Functions, API Management, Service Bus, etc.).
• Containers, ACA, Docker, Terraform/Bicep, cloud config mgmt.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design, development, testing, deployment, and support of enterprise full-stack apps.
• Set solution architecture and engineering standards for Java, Spring Boot, APIs, microservices, React, and Azure platforms.
• Translate business needs into technical designs, plans, and measurable outcomes.
• Develop backend services and responsive frontends contributing to complex features.
• Design secure integrations with internal systems and external providers.
• Drive cloud-native engineering with Azure compute, data, messaging, and identity services.
• Enforce coding, API, testing, observability, resiliency, and doc standards.
• Lead design/code reviews, performance tuning, incident resolution, and deployment readiness.
• Champion DevSecOps, CI/CD, IaC, automated testing, and supply-chain security.
