Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive design, development, and delivery of digital solutions for the Client Onboarding & Lifecycle Management portfolio within Global Engineering.

You will provide hands-on technical leadership, mentor teams, and ensure scalable, secure, high-performing products. Experience in Java/JEE, Spring Boot, microservices, and cloud practices is essential; a strong foundation in Agile and DevOps is required.

Qualifications

5+ years of full-stack Java/JEE development experience.
Strong expertise in Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices.
Experience with Oracle, SQL, Elasticsearch and MQ/Solace.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines/DevOps practices.
Experience with Agile methodologies and Azure DevOps.
Knowledge of Linux, cloud platforms, VMware, networking, and security technologies.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, and implementation of enterprise digital solutions for CLM.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to development teams.
Drive application, data, and event-store optimization, including logging, monitoring, and security administration.
Ensure code quality through architecture reviews, testing, and development standards.
Champion Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud engineering practices.
Collaborate with product, business, and technology stakeholders to define solutions and priorities.
Monitor system health, resolve stability and scalability issues, and drive continuous improvement.
Identify, assess, and mitigate technology and security risks with effective controls.
