TIAA is seeking a Non-Employee Contingent Worker to serve as an Information Systems Engineer IV. The role will be onsite with hybrid options and a planned 6-month term, possibly extendable based on business needs.

The candidate will work on system research, design, and integration, collaborating with analysts, engineers, and programmers to deliver reliable solutions and trainings. Strong backup, virtualization, Python, and AWS skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms.
• Deep expertise in Dell EMC NetWorker and Avamar.
• Strong Python scripting background.
• Experience with VMware vSphere and VM-level recovery operations.
• Working knowledge of AWS (EC2, EBS, FSx) and automation tools.

Position Summary

This is a Non-Employee Contingent Worker Role providing services for TIAA’s family of companies and will be employed by TIAA's preferred 3rd Party Supplier. As a Non-Employee CW, perform a variety of moderately complex business planning, support, and project-related duties. Demonstrates an exceptional standard of quality and holds themselves accountable to achieving excellent results. This role will sit onsite, likely in a hybrid capacity, at the location(s) listed in this posting. The anticipated term of this engagement will be 6 months. This term could be extended based on company business needs. CW-Info Systems Engineer IV.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Formulates system scope through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems.
• Evaluates and implements changes to existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.
• Reviews flow charts, models, and procedures and feasibility studies to design possible system solutions.
• Reviews technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system.
• Collaborates with system analysts, engineers, and programmers to design systems and to determine project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, systems performance standards, and interfaces.
• Identifies and documents all system constraints, implications and consequences of various proposed system changes.
• Educates end users on system designs and functionalities through creation of training materials and conducting demos.
• Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of application operations and troubleshooting problems.

Core Backup & Recovery Experience

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms.
• Deep expertise in Dell EMC Networker and Avamar.

Scripting & Automation

• Strong Python scripting background.
• Proven ability to build automation that is production‑ready, well‑documented, and maintainable.

Virtualization Experience

• Experience with VMware vSphere.
• Hands‑on experience automating VM‑level recovery operations.

Cloud (AWS)

• Working knowledge of EC2, EBS, and FSx.
• Experience with AWS CLI, SDKs, Terraform, and related automation tools for cloud recovery workflows.

NAS & Storage

• Prior experience with NAS environments and NDMP‑based volume restores (strongly preferred).
• Familiarity with NetApp filer architecture and its relation to NAS/NDMP recovery workflows (nice to have).

Environment & Operational Skills

• Ability to operate effectively within isolated or air‑gapped environments.
• Comfortable working with standalone toolsets.

Candidate Responsibilities

• Protected Backups: KR3: Evaluate end‑user protected backup solutions.
• KR4: Implement end‑user backup scanning.
• Rebuild and Recover: KR5: Perform end‑user (200) tests.
