Job summary

Shipco Transport Inc. is seeking an experienced LCL Import Customer Service Manager at our Long Beach, CA location. You will lead the Import CS team, ensure timely, accurate service to customers and overseas offices, and drive process improvements to support growth.

You will manage inquiries, oversee compliance with regulations, and partner with Operations to deliver high-quality transportation solutions. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years of supervisory/operational cargo consolidation experience.
• Knowledge of daily operations, customer service, documentation, and regulations.
• Must have aptitude for commercial development.
• Experience in staff training, supervision and motivation.
• Excellent verbal/written communication, organization and management skills.
• Detail-oriented in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with customer focus.
• Sales background preferred and accounting/invoicing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Import Customer Service team with coaching and feedback.
• Manage group emails and inquiries with accuracy and ownership.
• Continuous improvement of CS processes to boost productivity and quality.
• Identify workflow improvements and leverage technology/automation.
• Improve service for overseas offices and agents through proactive communication.
• Support growth by strengthening customer relationships and partnerships.
• Monitor routing orders and agreed arrangements for shipments and charges.
• Troubleshoot escalated issues with customers, agents, and vendors.
• Collaborate with Operations to improve handoffs and processes.
• Use data and feedback to implement corrective or preventive actions.
• Maintain clear procedures, responsibilities, and service standards.
• Coordinate staffing and time off to ensure coverage.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of team members.
• Ensure shipments comply with U.S. laws and company policies.
• Encourage continuous improvement and resourceful thinking.
