Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Senior Layout Designer / Layout Engineer to lead complex equipment layouts for semiconductor facilities. You will coordinate with PMs, clients, and vendors, drive constructible designs, and ensure safety and code compliance while guiding junior engineers.

The role requires 7–10+ years in high-tech layouts, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, Revit), and experience with utilities and cleanroom environments. Hybrid, with competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• 7–10+ years of semiconductor/high-tech layout experience.
• Knowledge of layout philosophies: product line, process layout, cellular manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of tool hookup design, subfab racks, utility coordination.
• Lead technical coordination and drawing review with constructability, safety, and code compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with internal teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Familiarity with Automated Material Handling systems.
• Proficient with AutoCAD; Revit knowledge desirable.
• Experience mentoring or supervising designers and junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning of production facilities and equipment layouts for efficient space use.
• Interpret supplier drawings; set CAD block standards (2D/3D) and Revit RFAs.
• Develop manufacturing process layouts based on client tool quantities and priorities.
• Review design calculations, routing evaluations, and technical assessments for utilities and interfaces.
• Prepare drawings, models, and documentation for tool connections and infrastructure integration.
• Coordinate with project managers, discipline leads, clients, vendors, and contractors on design requirements.
• Represent layout in design reviews; manage revisions and alignment with scope, budget, and schedule.
• Conduct site walks and verify field conditions for clashes or scope gaps.
• Lead risk identification and mitigation for schedule, safety, and installation continuity.
• Handover documentation for downstream teams and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with safety, cleanroom, and facility standards.
