Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Senior Layout Designer / Layout Engineer to lead complex process equipment layouts for semiconductor fabrication and high-tech manufacturing facilities. You will act as the primary technical contact for project managers, clients, and vendors, driving practical, code-compliant layout solutions that support safety, schedule, and quality goals.

Role requires strong technical judgment, coordination across disciplines, and mentorship of junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent layout experience.
• 7–10+ years of experience in semiconductor/high-tech layout, cleanroom, or tool install projects.
• Deep understanding of layout philosophies: product line, process layout, cellular manufacturing, densepack vs flexible layouts.
• Strong tool hookup design knowledge, subfab rack and lateral systems, utility coordination in semiconductor facilities.
• Proven ability to lead technical coordination and drawing reviews with emphasis on constructability, safety, and code compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Familiarity with Automated Material Handling systems.
• Proficient with AutoCAD; Revit experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning of production facilities and equipment layouts for efficient space use and flow.
• Interpret supplier drawings; establish standards for 2D/3D CAD blocks and Revit RFAs.
• Develop manufacturing process layouts based on client tool quantities and priorities.
• Perform design calculations, routing evaluations, and assessments for utilities and interfaces.
• Prepare and review drawings, models, and documents for tool connections and clearances.
• Coordinate with PMs, discipline leads, clients, vendors, and contractors to resolve design issues.
• Represent layout in design reviews and client meetings; manage revisions, scope, and schedule.
• Conduct site walks, verify field conditions, identify clashes and gaps.
