Job summary

SSOE's Tool Install division seeks a Senior Layout Designer / Layout Engineer to lead complex process equipment layouts for semiconductor fabrication and high-tech facilities. You will act as primary technical contact for project managers, clients, vendors, and contractors, guiding constructible, code-compliant layouts that meet schedule, safety, and quality goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field, or equivalent layout experience.
• 7 to 10+ years in semiconductor/high-tech layout projects.
• Strong knowledge of layout philosophies: product line, process layout, cellular, densepack vs flexible.
• Familiarity with tool hookup design and facility modification in cleanroom environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning of production facilities and equipment layouts for efficiency and constraints.
• Interpret supplier drawings; establish standards for tool CAD blocks and Revit RFAs.
• Develop manufacturing process layouts based on client tool quantities and priorities.
• Perform design calculations, routing evaluations, and technical assessments for utilities and interfaces.
• Direct preparation and review of drawings, models, and wiring/documentation for tool connections and access.
• Lead coordination with managers, clients, vendors, and contractors across project phases.
• Represent the layout discipline in reviews and meetings; manage revisions and scope alignment.
• Conduct site walks, verify field conditions, and identify clashes or gaps.
• Lead risk identification and mitigation for schedule, safety, and operational continuity.
