Job summary

Firefly Aerospace seeks a Senior Fluid/Mechanical Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain launch-site fluid systems across a growing portfolio of sites including Wallops and Esrange. You will own cradle-to-grave aspects of cryogenic propellants, high-pressure gases, and environmental control systems, interfacing with design and operations teams.

Responsibilities include leading design reviews, commissioning ground systems, and developing maintenance strategies to maximize availability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• 7 years of hands-on experience with mechanical, propulsion, fluid or ground support systems.
• Experience designing, building, troubleshooting and/or operating complex fluid systems.
• Experience with interpretation and design of P&ID diagrams.
• Hazard and risk analysis experience (FMEA, FMECA, FHA, HAZOP, etc.).
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage high-pressure programs.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and activate new fluid systems across a global launch portfolio.
• Lead design reviews and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Commission ground systems and lead integrated vehicle ground operations.
• Lead troubleshooting and investigations of issues and nonconformances.
• Develop procedures and automation for launch pad configuration and operations.
• Develop and execute maintenance strategies to maximize system availability.
• Guide early career Fluids and Mechanical GSE team members and support hiring.
• Travel up to 25% to test and launch sites.
