Job summary

Atomic Machines is hiring a senior engineer to shape laser-based manufacturing from development to scaled production. The role bridges process, device design, AI/software and hardware, driving laser process development across cutting, milling, selective ablation and welding with in-house pulsed-laser machines.

Qualifications

• A master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 6–10 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong foundational knowledge of laser-material interaction and heating, melting, and ablation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale pulsed-laser manufacturing processes (cutting, milling, selective ablation, welding).
• Design and analyze experiments to understand laser-material interactions across metals, ceramics, and polymers.
• Manage calibration and verification systems across many machines; build qualification/validation protocols and train production personnel.
• Troubleshoot equipment, materials, and process issues; perform root-cause analysis for durable resolution.
• Develop and refine tool paths and machine programs using CAD/CAM and G-code to maximize precision and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Design, AI, Hardware/Software, and Manufacturing teams; mentor engineers and technicians.
