Job summary

Stanford University’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a Staff Laser Engineer to design, integrate and commission state-of-the-art high‑power laser systems for the LCLS facility. You will work with scientists and engineers to develop beam conditioning, diagnostics, and delivery systems and ensure high system availability.

Qualifications

• Experience designing high-powered laser systems and beam conditioning components.

Responsibilities

• Develop laser and optical designs for beam conditioning, transport, relay imaging, focusing, and diagnostics.
• Lead the delivery of new optical and optomechanical systems across the facility.
• Oversee design, procurement, installation, alignment, integration and validation of complex systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to create optomechanical support structures for precise alignment.
• Document designs and develop training and operations support to ensure high uptime.
