Job summary

Stanford University’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory-based LCLS Mechanical Engineering team seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead development and operation of advanced scientific instruments. You will contribute to new X-ray and optical technologies, oversee integration and testing with staff scientists, and uphold engineering standards across design reviews.

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field; at least two years of relevant experience.
Willingness to learn fabrication techniques for producing complex components and systems.
Demonstrated skill with CAD.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a diverse team.
Advanced verbal and written communication skills for collaboration.

Responsibilities

Contribute to mechanical engineering development for new X-ray and optical experiment technologies to increase capability and reduce cost.
Contribute to integration and testing of systems and devices with scientists, fabrication facilities, and technicians.
Maintain technical scope and quality assurance through design reviews and standardized engineering practices.
