Project work spans urban regeneration, waterfront development, civic environments, green infrastructure, parks and large-scale mixed-use developments.

Working alongside the senior leadership team, the successful individual will have considerable autonomy in managing projects, developing client relationships and guiding design teams. The position would suit an established project leader looking to take greater ownership of project delivery and contribute to the wider development of a design practice.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of major landscape architecture commissions, coordinating projects from early design stages through technical development and on-site delivery.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for clients, consultants and external project partners, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Direct multidisciplinary project teams, balancing design quality with programme requirements, commercial objectives and client expectations.
  • Manage project resources, fee allocations, budgets and overall financial performance.
  • Work closely with studio leadership to plan workloads, allocate staff and maintain efficient project delivery.
  • Provide technical direction on construction packages, material selection, detailing and project specifications.
  • Support design reviews, resolve technical challenges and maintain quality standards across project outputs.
  • Develop the capabilities of emerging professionals through mentoring, guidance and regular project feedback.
  • Contribute to the wider operational and strategic development of the studio.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Approximately 12 years or more of professional landscape architecture experience, with a substantial track record of leading projects and managing teams.
  • At least five years of responsibility for project programmes, budgets, financial performance and delivery.
  • Degree in Landscape Architecture or a closely related accredited qualification.
  • Professional landscape architecture registration in New York State, or eligibility to secure registration within a short timeframe.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating the delivery of sophisticated urban landscapes, civic spaces, public infrastructure or comparable multidisciplinary developments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction methods, technical documentation, specification writing and project costing.
  • Confidence coordinating with architects, engineers, planners and other specialist consultants.
  • Working proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and Rhino, alongside Adobe Creative Suite and standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong commercial judgement, organisational ability and interpersonal skills.
Candidate Profile

The practice is particularly interested in individuals who can operate confidently between design leadership, technical delivery and project management.

An ideal candidate will have experience navigating complex stakeholder relationships, directing multiple project teams and maintaining oversight of both creative and commercial project requirements.

This opportunity provides an established senior professional with the chance to take a prominent role in delivering significant landscape and urban design projects while helping shape the continued growth and success of a New York studio.
