Job summary

Greenway Waste Solutions at North Mecklenburg Landfill is seeking an Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy machinery, excavate the landfill, transport waste, and spread and compact layers of waste and earth cover.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment, knowledge of hazardous materials handling, and a valid CDL class A; the role offers a stable, team-focused environment with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

High school diploma or comparable occupational training.
Knowledge of techniques for safely operating heavy material moving equipment.
Knowledge of waste and hazardous materials that could potentially cause a problem at the site.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozer, front-end loader, and compactor to excavate the landfill site and to spread and compact layers of waste and earth cover.
Direct incoming vehicles to the dumping area.
Examine cargo to prohibit disposal of caustic waste or hazardous material per regulations.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment on a daily basis.
Keep cab area clean and conduct visual checks for leaks or wear.
Adhere to safety guidelines and corporate policies.
