Job summary

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Specialist – Land Survey Field Technician to manage boundary, control networks, and field surveys for City projects.

Responsibilities include leading survey projects from scope through delivery, mentoring field crews, performing CAD/Civil 3D analyses, and coordinating with clients and other departments to ensure accurate, timely results and adherence to SPU standards.

Qualifications

• Four years of civil engineering experience.
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or two years of college coursework in engineering and construction technology.
• Current Washington State drivers license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

Responsibilities

• Manage surveying projects for scope, budget, and schedule; keep clients informed of progress and changes.
• Perform all aspects of field surveys using total stations, GNSS/GPS, digital levels, and 3D laser scanning.
• Calculate and draft survey information using Autodesk Civil 3D and other surveying software; prepare deliverables for clients.
• Train and mentor field staff to develop crew survey skills and knowledge.
• Coordinate with clients, other departments and agencies, consultants, and field staff to promote surveying services.
