Job summary

VHB is seeking a Senior Land Development Project Manager to join its I-64 Team in Virginia. The role offers leadership over site/civil engineering plans for diverse projects, strong client relations, and responsibility for financial performance.

The ideal candidate has 11+ years of experience, a BS in Civil Engineering, and PE licensure in Virginia or within 12 months. The position supports hybrid work and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • 11+ years of increasing engineering experience on complex projects.
  • PE licensure in Virginia or obtain within 12 months.
  • Strong site layout, grading, utility design and stormwater management.
  • Experience leading and developing project teams for successful delivery.

  • Collaborate with engineering PMs, staff, and CAD operators to ensure high-quality plans and financial performance.
  • Develop and/or support site/civil engineering plans for large-scale projects.
  • Manage project financial performance and client relations.
  • Prepare and review drawings and specifications documenting designs.
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to discuss requirements.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Senior Project Manager - Land Development

VHB’s I-64 Team is seeking a Senior Land Development Project Manager to join our growing Land Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope. Our past and present clients include commercial and residential; industrial; hospitality including amusement parks; municipal and local government; federal agencies including the National Park Service, Army Corps. of Engineers, and Forest Service; and private interests throughout the eastern United States.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineering project managers, engineering staff, and CAD operators to meet high performance standards for quality plans, superior financial performance, and employee growth
  • Develop and/or support development of site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects, including large-scale industrial developments, biotech, institutional, healthcare and residential
  • Responsible for project financial performance and client relations
  • Prepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the systems designed
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues with them
  • Supervise design team activities
  • Manage work and development of junior-level staff
  • Manage small, medium and/or large projects
  • Develop new project opportunities and manage proposal submissions
Skills And Attributes
  • Highly proficient in the following: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, MS Office. ArcGIS skills highly desirable
  • Skills to implement the integrated services approach with collaborative coordination between multiple disciplines within VHB and external project teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of design, details, and construction drawing preparation including site layout, grading, hardscape, drainage, and planning.
  • Knowledge of land development construction including codes and development regulations
  • Experience with green initiative programs and low-impact design (LEED, Envision)
  • Project research and analysis skills, including due diligence and regulatory process mapping
  • Strong, creative engineering skills and ability to adhere to office standards
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, attention to detail, ability to think critically and multitask
  • Excels at working in a team environment, including hybrid team members
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills and growth potential
  • Demonstrated business development skills or interest in growing business development skills

The base salary range for this position is $132,000 to $180,000 for our I-64 Virginia offices. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
