Job summary

J2 Engineers Inc. is seeking a Land Development Associate/Senior Associate in the Herndon, VA area to provide leadership across project execution, team development, client management, and business growth.

You will oversee site civil planning, design, permitting, and construction support while ensuring QA/QC and compliance with standards. You will manage project financial performance, assist with workload planning, and mentor staff to grow capabilities across offices.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years leading land development engineering teams
• BS in Civil Engineering; PE license
• Experience managing project financials: budgeting and forecasting
• Proven staff leadership and mentorship
• Strong client relations with agencies and jurisdictions, especially Northern Virginia

Responsibilities

• Provide design oversight and technical leadership for site civil projects through all phases of planning, design, permitting, and construction support
• Lead QA/QC of site civil deliverables to ensure alignment with J2 standards and client expectations
• Guide development and review of rezoning, entitlement, preliminary, site, and subdivision plans
• Oversee design of storm drainage, water distribution, sanitary sewer, and erosion control measures
• Oversee production and review of technical drawings; lead planning studies and permitting across jurisdictions
• Manage project financial performance: scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, profitability
