Job summary

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is seeking an experienced Lactation Consultant to support breastfeeding mothers and babies. You will educate, counsel and round at the bedside to identify needs and tailor care plans within a collaborative environment.

You will lead prenatal/postpartum classes, coordinate education for nursing staff, and advocate for patient privacy while applying lactation management knowledge and quality improvement principles.

Qualifications

• IBCLC certification or CLC credential required.
• Minimum 45 clock hours of breastfeeding education within the last 3 years.
• Healthcare background preferred.
• Experience as a breastfeeding consultant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality breastfeeding support to mothers and babies.
• Teach prenatal and postpartum classes promoting breastfeeding benefits.
• Conduct bedside lactation rounds and ongoing counseling.
• Plan, teach and conduct in-service education for nursing staff.
• Support patient privacy and advocate for patients and families.
• Develop and implement breastfeeding education for patients and staff.
• Monitor patient status and document responses to breastfeeding care.
