Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Laboratory Manager to lead planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all technical and operational activities in the laboratory. You will ensure high quality, safety, integrity, and efficiency across the testing workflow, while aligning with budget and strategic goals.

The role includes mentoring Supervisors and QA staff, overseeing QA programs, staffing, reporting, and implementing process improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of eight (10) years laboratory experience with at least four (6) years direct supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory.
• Bachelor’s Degree Life sciences is required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license is preferred (CA only).

Responsibilities

• Plans, assigns, and directs work in the laboratory; liaises with other areas as needed.
• Mentors Supervisors and QA staff; ensures training in supervisory skill development.
• Defines, coordinates, and monitors QA programs; ensures QC procedures and inspections are up to date.
• Oversees staffing; hires, trains, and develops staff.
• Identifies future staff, equipment, and facility needs and procures accordingly.
• Manages test data, reports, and meets deadlines.
• Coordinates R&D activities related to operations and participates in committees.
• Develops annual budget and manages departmental costs and resources.
• Resolves problems via client communication and ensures safety and regulatory compliance.
