Job summary

Miniat in Chicago, IL seeks a Laboratory Manager to lead the daily operation of the quality laboratory, ensuring accurate testing, methods, records, and product-release support. You will partner with FSQA, Operations, Maintenance, Growth & Innovation, Procurement, and external labs to drive compliance and continuous improvement.

The role requires a bachelor’s in chemistry or related field and at least five years in a lab leadership role in food manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, food science, biological science, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible laboratory leadership experience, ideally in food manufacturing.
• Knowledge of analytical chemistry, method validation, calibration, data integrity and OOS investigations.
• Experience with GMP, QA/QC systems, and document control.
• Familiarity with LIMS and electronic quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily laboratory operations, staffing, schedules, and priorities.
• Coach and develop lab staff; maintain qualifications and training records.
• Manage lab procedures, records, sample retention, and audit readiness.
• Oversee calibration, maintenance, and service records for lab equipment.
• Lead method development, validation, and testing for new processing equipment.
• Maintain LIMS and monitor KPIs, trends, and preventative actions.
• Provide technical support for customer complaints, production issues, and audits.
