Job summary

Metra is seeking a Lead Labor Relations Specialist to provide strategic guidance and oversight across administration, advocacy and labor relations functions. You will lead disciplinary processes, analyze data, and support contract negotiations while maintaining strong relations with union representatives.

The role requires extensive experience in labor relations, the ability to interpret complex agreements, and the capacity to work in a demanding environment within Metra's 6-county coverage

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Labor Relations, Industrial Relations or related field, or four years of equivalent experience.
• At least seven years of labor relations experience including contract negotiations, contract administration or administrative hearings.
• Knowledge of union contract administration and disciplinary investigations.
• Knowledge of contract drafting and administration.
• Knowledge of labor negotiation and arbitration principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support Labor Relations staff on administrative tasks, meetings and analyses.
• Handle disciplinary hearings, investigations and reporting on policy data.
• Serve as SME on labor relations procedures and legislation.
• Attend negotiations and prepare documentation detailing contract proposals and implications.
• Collaborate with managers and unions to resolve issues and improve processes.
