Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an experienced Labor Relations Director to lead labor and industrial relations strategies on large construction projects across North America. This role serves as the primary advisor to project leadership on union engagement, CBA/PLA administration, workforce planning, and grievance resolution to deliver a highly skilled, compliant workforce.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Labor Relations, Business, Industrial Management, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive labor relations, industrial relations, construction operations, or workforce management experience.
• Extensive experience with unionized construction workforces and labor organizations.
• Strong knowledge of CBAs, PLAs, and labor-management relations.
• Experience leading grievance investigations, dispute resolution, and arbitration processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead labor and industrial relations activities for assigned projects, regions, or business units; advise on union strategy and workforce planning.
• Develop relationships with local, regional, and international labor organizations.
• Administer and interpret CBAs, PLAs, and other labor contracts; lead labor-management meetings.
• Coordinate craft labor dispatch, workforce forecasting, and staffing strategies.
• Collaborate with Operations, HR, and Craft Recruiting to ensure workforce readiness.
• Investigate and resolve labor grievances, jurisdictional disputes, and arbitration matters.
• Identify labor risks and implement strategies to prevent disruptions.
• Provide guidance on union jurisdiction assignments and subcontractor work allocations.
• Conduct pre-job labor engagements with labor organizations and stakeholders.
• Deliver labor relations training and coaching to leadership and staff.
• Ensure compliance with labor agreements, laws, and company policies.
• Monitor labor-related metrics and prepare reports for leaders.
