Job summary

Penn State University is seeking a Labor and Employee Relations Senior Specialist to advance positive labor and employee relations across campus locations. You will serve as a subject‑matter expert in union relations, advise managers on sensitive workplace issues, and interpret policy and contract language to guide consistent administration.

The role involves coordinating investigations, representing the university at hearings, supporting bargaining, and training HR staff on new contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• Previous labor relations experience in a unionized workforce is preferred; higher education experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on union relations and day-to-day administration of labor agreements.
• Advise on resolution of employment and disciplinary issues.
• Counsel employees and leaders on sensitive workplace concerns, risk mitigation, and appropriate resolution pathways.
• Interpret, apply, and help develop policy and contract language; advise audiences on application; assist in drafting language as needed.
