Job summary

UL Solutions in Chicago seeks a Senior Laboratory Technician for the Toy Lab to oversee safety, durability, and regulatory compliance testing of new products meeting global quality standards.

You will evaluate test performance, operate specialized equipment, train staff, and communicate results to engineers and clients, ensuring data integrity and continuous improvement in testing methods.

Qualifications

• 2 years of university education in a related discipline or a 4-year degree in another field.
• Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
• Proven ability to be innovative and creative.

Responsibilities

• Examines test samples and reads measuring instruments, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and instructions.
• Evaluates test performance and reviews data with supervisor or lab requester.
• Operates with minimal supervision within defined limits of responsibility.
• Directs and adapts setup and test equipment for new situations based on data sheets and engineering input.
• Trains staff in test setups and methods.
• Records data on forms and prepares data sheets and reports.
• Plans tests and evaluates results and interpretations.
• Integrates continuous improvement concepts into all aspects of the job.
