Job summary

UL Solutions in Northbrook, IL seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to lead daily testing operations, mentor staff, ensure safety compliance, and optimize workflow in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

You will design and adapt test setups, review instruments and schematics, coordinate with engineering and client teams, prepare reports, and contribute to budget planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Some university education in Engineering or related discipline with six years of relevant experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with high quality and customer service.
• Strong collaboration with Engineering and Laboratory personnel to complete projects on time.

Responsibilities

• Examine test samples and read instruments, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and instructions.
• Develop operating, maintenance, and test procedures per lab standards and safety policies.
• Schedule, assign, review, and coordinate staff workflow.
• Direct daily activities of designated staff and advise on staffing and performance.
• Design or direct test setups and equipment for new situations.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and manage material needs.
• Record data and prepare data sheets and reports.
• Develop training seminars and assist in staff training.
• Plan tests, evaluate results, and report interpretations.
