Qualifications

• Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED; two years in a clinical environment with data processing/specimen handling.
• Language Ability: Read English; write simple correspondence; present information clearly.
• Math Ability: Perform basic arithmetic, rates, ratios and percentages.
• Reasoning Ability: Follow instructions; solve problems with a few variables.
• Computer Skills: Use LIS and other software programs.
• Certificates and Licenses: No certifications needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs CLIA classified moderately complex laboratory testing under direct supervision of a technologist.
• Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions within the operator's manual and documented troubleshooting.
• Performs testing designated by the department and reports results per SOPs.
• Prioritizes/reorganizes work to respond to STAT/Emergency requests.
• Follows SOPs for specimen handling and communicates critical values to customers.
• Provides clinical orientation and training to new employees/students.
