Job summary

Battelle Memorial Institute in San Antonio, TX, is seeking a Senior Technician to support cutting-edge research across multiple disciplines. You will maintain cell lines, prepare tissue samples, and perform biological evaluations following SOPs and project guidance.

The role offers collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and exposure to government contracting. This full-time position is contingent on contract award and located in San Antonio, Texas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in the life sciences with a background in any biological science (e.g., bacteriology, virology, molecular biology, biochemistry).
• Professional experience performing cell and tissue culture and/or histology.
• Ability and willingness to work in BSL-2 laboratories.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow written procedures and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Support execution of laboratory experiments rooted in cell biology, anatomy, or related biological disciplines.
• Independently perform routine experiments per SOPs with guidance from senior scientists.
• Operate lab equipment (pipettes, balances, pH meters, microtomes, microscopes, centrifuges, plate readers, etc.).
• Document experimental data clearly; compile data and perform quality control review.
• Communicate progress and results to senior scientists.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities within quality frameworks (ISO 9001:2015 or 21 CFR Part 58 GLP).
• Follow safety and security guidelines.
• Some domestic travel is possible.
