Job summary

DGA is seeking an experienced Lab Planner/Architect in the San Diego area with 8+ years in programming and planning for science facilities, including teaching, research, vivarium and STEM spaces. You will lead client relations, guide lab space programs and coordinate with designers to deliver high‑quality facilities.

Ideal candidates demonstrate leadership, strong communication, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and Office tools, with a track record of delivering complex lab

Qualifications

• 8+ years of architectural lab programming/planning and project architecture experience
• Architectural registration preferred
• Demonstrated effectiveness in managing clients, project teams and project processes
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit and Microsoft Office Suite products

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate creativity, passion and interest in design and planning of laboratories within technical facilities
• Advance knowledge of technical and regulatory requirements for laboratory design
• Convey laboratory planning needs to designers and clients clearly
• Meet with clients/users to develop or validate program requirements for lab and high-tech facilities
• Collaborate with the project team to develop flexible planning grids and service distribution concepts
• Lead the documentation of laboratory systems and spaces
• Participate in marketing efforts through proposals and presentations
• Ensure designs and construction documents comply with codes and standards
• Develop comprehensive construction documents and drawings
