Job summary

Springfield Clinic is seeking a Laboratory Assistant 3 to support urine microscopy, culture setup, and bone marrow processing. You will assist in processing specimens, review bills, and help manage inventory while maintaining HIPAA compliance and strong customer service.

The role requires high school graduation or GED and prior phlebotomy/medical lab experience, with the ability to handle a fast-paced, multitasking environment and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have previous phlebotomy and medical lab experience.
• After six months, be fully capable of performing duties.

Responsibilities

• PROCESSING - receive specimens, ensure samples are present for testing, aliquot as needed, send out for departments, process add-on tests, handle mailings, and reportable test levels to health dept.
• ASSIST WITH BONE MARROW - collect supplies, prepare paperwork, make smears, choose tubes/media for tests, assist physician as needed.
• URINE MICROSCOPY - operate microscope, identify crystals/cellular structures, correlate with results.
• MICROBIOLOGY - set up cultures, maintain identity, organize workflow.
• BILLING - post patient charges, review invoices, request credits, assist with inventory and LIS coordination.
• Answer phones and contact patients or physician offices.
• Comply with incident reporting policy and Springfield Clinic procedures.
• Adhere to OSHA training and Springfield Clinic policies.
• Provide excellent customer service per SC Way philosophy.
