Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s is seeking an experienced leader for the Comparative Medicine division to supervise vivarium operations and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards. You will coordinate staff, support annual budgeting, and contribute to policy development.

The role requires 6+ years in animal care, an advanced degree, and a track record in supervision. Experience with IACUC, LEAN concepts, and operational efficiency is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• 6+ years of experience in the care and husbandry of laboratory animals, or LATG/CMAR certification.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for the shift, and perform repetitive physical activities.
• Preferred: 3+ years of supervisory experience.
• Preferred: Knowledge of LEAN concepts and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Operations- Supervise daily operations ensuring regulatory compliance and animal care standards; schedule technicians; participate in IACUC/USDA/AAALAC reviews; assist in policy development and budgeting.
• Supervision- Prepare and administer annual evaluations; train new employees; ensure quality animal care; set clear job requirements and goals; assist in interviewing staff.
• Customer Service and Problem Solving- Serve as a resource for research staff; triage health cases; analyze housing space and trends; ensure SOP/IACUC protocol compliance; maintain facility biosecurity.
