Job summary

Intone Inc. in Durham, NC, is seeking a Senior L3 Network Engineer for a 12+ month contract to deliver end-to-end network support across enterprise, data center, cloud, and manufacturing environments.

You will design and deploy Cisco routing/switching, manage BGP/OSPF/EIGRP/MPLS, and adminster Palo Alto firewalls and security policies. The role requires expertise in SD-WAN, cloud networking (Azure/AWS/GCP), and IT/OT security, with a focus on Zero Trust and automation using Terraform, Ansible,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in Cisco routing and switching platforms.
• Proficiency with Palo Alto Strata firewalls and security architecture.
• Hands-on experience with SD-WAN solutions.
• Cloud networking experience with Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Manufacturing and OT network expertise including SCADA, PLC, and MES systems.
• Network security and Zero Trust implementation experience.
• Knowledge of network automation using Terraform, Ansible, and Python.
• Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, and Splunk.

Responsibilities

• Provide L3 support for enterprise, data center, cloud, and manufacturing network environments.
• Design, deploy, and maintain Cisco routing and switching infrastructure including Catalyst, Nexus, ISR, and ASR platforms.
• Manage advanced routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and route redistribution.
• Configure and support Layer 2/Layer 3 technologies including VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, HSRP, and QoS.
• Administer Palo Alto Strata Firewalls, Panorama, GlobalProtect, NAT, and security policies.
• Implement Zero Trust architecture, network segmentation, and IT/OT security controls.
• Design, deploy, and support SD-WAN solutions including Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela) and Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN.
• Support projects for compute environments including VMWare VSAN projects in US domestic regions.
• Manage WAN connectivity across MPLS, Internet, DIA, VPN, and hybrid network environments.
• Design and support cloud networking across Azure, AWS, and GCP environments.
• Implement and maintain ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, Cloud VPN, Transit Gateway, and Virtual WAN solutions.
• Support OT networks including manufacturing, SCADA, PLC, and industrial systems.
• Perform root cause analysis, problem management, and major incident resolution for network outages.
• Develop network automation using Terraform, Ansible, Python, and IaC practices.
• Monitor network performance, security, and availability using enterprise monitoring and security tools.
• Create technical documentation, lead network modernization initiatives, and collaborate with security, cloud, and infrastructure teams on strategic projects.
