Job summary

Astyra Corporation seeks a Senior Network Engineer for an on-site, 9-month contract in Mechanicsville, VA. You will implement and support enterprise network infrastructure, document configurations, and research network solutions to maintain high availability.

You will design, install, and troubleshoot local and wide-area networks, work with cloud and DevSecOps teams on SD-WAN, and ensure up-to-date topology diagrams and IP schemas. A CCNA/JNCIA-like certification is expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years hands-on experience with enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Experience designing, installing, and troubleshooting local-area and wide-area enterprise networks.
• Industry-standard networking certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA-Junos).

Responsibilities

Senior Network Engineer

Job Overview

• Senior Network Engineer to implement and provide support for IT Network infrastructure.
• The Senior Network Engineer performs day-to-day activities related to the support, documentation, research, analysis, and implementation of Network-related infrastructure.
• Candidate must have in-depth, considerable knowledge and hands-on experience understanding, documenting, and maintaining Network-related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Considerable knowledge and working experience with enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, wireless access points, and load balancers, including the ability to document, set up, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot.
• Be capable of troubleshooting Network-related infrastructure.
• Identifies and diagnoses system problems by using line monitors, diagnostic software, and test equipment.
• Works closely with IT infrastructure suppliers and stakeholders to gather requirements, specifications, and configurations to assure they are accurate and up to date.
• Responsible for assisting in troubleshooting and resolving network issues impacting application performance and uptime.
• Assist in overseeing the installation, documentation, and upgrades of various facility data network infrastructure.
• Will oversee and collaborate with cloud and DevSecOps teams to optimize hybrid connectivity and SDWAN configurations.
• Must have the ability to provide documentation, network architecture, topology diagrams, IP schemes, firewall rules, and access controls when required.
• Must have the ability to work independently on assigned projects.
• Must have minimally obtained an industry-standard networking certification, for example, Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, etc.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

• Considerable knowledge and hands-on working experience with enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, and wireless access points. Required — 8 Years
• Considerable hands-on working experience setting up, configuring, upgrading, managing, and troubleshooting routers/switches and WAPs. Required — 8 Years
• Demonstrated and hands-on ability to design, install, and troubleshoot local-area and wide-area enterprise networks. Required — 8 Years
• Considerable direct hands-on engineering and design experience in the networking industry required. Required — 8 Years
• Industry-standard networking certification (example: Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, etc.). Required — N/A
• In-depth experience designing, installing, and troubleshooting local-area and wide-area enterprise networks. Required — 8 Years
• Experience monitoring IT environments for compliance with information security, architecture policies, and standards. Required — 8 Years
• Experience creating repeatable, reliable, scalable network architectures with fault tolerance. Required — 8 Years
• Experience with performance tuning, monitoring systems, statistics/metrics collection, and disaster recovery. Required — 8 Years
• Experience creating network diagrams using industry-standard tools such as Visio, etc. Required — 8 Years
• Experience with networking features and protocols such as: ARP, CDP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VTP, EtherChannel, HSRP, QoS, multicast, IPsec, etc. Required — 8 Years
• Experience working with SDWAN. Preferred — 3 Years
• Experience working with network topology related to the cloud. Preferred — 3 Years
• Familiarity and experience working with cloud networking. Preferred — 3 Years
